Each culture and religion has the expression and celebration of renewal. Easter. Resurrection. New beginnings. Dionysus in Greek mythology, religious certitude aside, is an archetypal image: a symbol, a metaphor, for rebirth. The source of this ideal, of course, is Nature itself. Within the cycle of the four seasons, spring marks new beginnings. Everything is coming to life, the earth softens and bursts forth with leaves, flowers, birds and bees. The world awakens after the cold winter slumber.

As humans, we have been enduring a long harsh winter – war, economic disaster, natural catastrophe – testing our mettle as tough warriors. We must fight the fight. In that struggle, we can also let things be born in the flow of it all. It unfolds as it should…our focus is awareness.

Awaken to this spirit of renewal and rebirth. To get the martial edge – strengthen and revitalize dreams and efforts with spring intentions. Moving and practicing outside in nature connects us to the consciousness of renewal. Or open your windows. Breathe…go beyond imaginary foes and sense it all…today is day one. Begin anew. Plant new seeds in rich soil.

We wish you peace.

I think it’s important to practice outside as much as possible. Not only for the vital Vitamin D production triggered by sunlight, but to get away from the artificial modern world. No one really knows the effect of the electro-magnetic radiation from television, computers, microwaves and even the electrical wiring in buildings. Long-term exposure might affect our cells–and the subtle wiring in our brains. It is being studied. Of course, there’s also value in inhaling fresh air (I live in the boondocks so it’s fairly clean. I hope.).
