The Deadliest Warrior: Return of Implausible Death Duels

Martial artists, armchair combatants, fight club wannabes or macho males – rejoice.  The bloody clash between history’s most vicious fighters will once again become plausible when the second season of Spike’s Deadliest Warrior returns April 20th. Last season pitted the likes of Shaolin monk vs. Maori warrior, Spartan vs. Ninja and IRA vs. Taliban in flights of edutainment fantasy.

Unlike the Ultimate Fighter, with the modest intent of finding the toughest SOB in the global village, the theme of the Deadliest Warrior series goes beyond – through “what if” scenarios, with famed military combatants and cultural heroes engaging in lethal encounters to discover the meanest MoFo throughout human history.

To fulfill these match ups, martial artists, weapons experts and military consultants provide a modicum of technical and historical authenticity – comparing Scottish claymore sword, katanas by slicing into pig carcasses or AK 47s splattering bottles of artificial blood or the punches, kicks and strategies of a style. The team of medical doctor (Dr. Dorian), simulation analyst (Max Geiger) and biomedical engineer (Geoff Desmoulin) add science and technology  into this macho speculation. It’s all there.

This season, will match up the likes of Attila the Hun vs. Alexander the Great, Commanche vs. Mongol, but closer to home match ups like Navy Seal vs. Israeli Commando returns us to sober reality.

For the Evolving Martial Artist with a discerning mind, these fanciful death duels are silly fun that provide valuable insight into comparative combat.

Enjoy!
