Tiger and Crane Shaolin Kung Fu

Lawrence wrote, directed, choreographed and was featured in this 1982 video, Tiger and Crane Shaolin Kung Fu. We were surprised to find a few of these on You Tube. The Hung Gar tiger and crane forms are demonstrated by Master Chiu Chi Lin, a descendant of the style’s originator, who is recognized today for his role in the film Kung Fu Hustle. In this video, Lawrence seems to find trouble wherever he goes…from ascending a staircase  (above) to strolling through the park — employing kung fu techniques for effective self defense.

Tiger and Crane Shaolin Kung Fu
was made in the early days of video production. Today, we continue the tradition of exploring practical application of martial art techniques to protect and defend.  Check out our latest videos ~ including tiger and crane combat: http://www.tandao.com/videos/

Awesome vid! Updated and with slo-mo would make it even better, I wish there were more videos that went through so much meat.

Absolutely outstanding demonstration of practical applications of Tiger/Crane techniques. Those that feel traditional Kung Fu is outdated really need to watch this.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Those that feel that traditional martial arts aren’t effective forget that in the real world, you don’t get ‘penalties’ for going for the throat or grabbing a would-be attacker’s cojones.

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoy seeing myself as a young martial artist – that was over 25 years ago – what still works and with new eyes of experience what subtle changes that I would do today to enhance those moves. Our mission is to share these realizations with Evolving Martial Artists.

We love to get your feedback!
